St. Lawrence University first-year student Margo Lund scored her third goal of the season, while classmate Carmen MacDonald turned in a 22-save shutout performance to lift the Saints women's hockey team to its sixth straight victory, a 3-0 win over Brown University in Providence, RI.

The Saints, now 12-7-3 on the season and 6-4-1 in ECAC Hockey, owned a 34-22 advantage in shots on goal and finished 2-for-4 on the power play. Meanwhile, Brown falls to 5-6-6 (2-5-3) and was 0-for-4 with the extra skater.

"We fought hard tonight to get a solid win, as Brown always plays us tough," said St. Lawrence head coach Chris Wells. "We are looking forward to playing in New Haven tomorrow night."

Lund opened the scoring for the Scarlet and Brown at 6:11 of the first period on the power play, with senior Alley Bero assisting on what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Though Brown's Aubree Moore made 10 of her 31 saves in the first period, the Bears offense was unable to solve MacDonald.

The two teams battled in a very evenly-played second period, with each team earning nine shots on goal. However, the goaltenders owned the period, combining for 18 saves to send the game to the third period with St. Lawrence on top 1-0.

Sophomore defenseman Mel Desrochers would give the Saints an important insurance goal midway through the final stanza, with a helper going to classmate Bailey Habscheid. With her team on the power play, Desrochers beat Moore for her sixth goal of the season at 9:15.

With MacDonald turning back each of the nine shots see saw in the third to lock up her second collegiate shutout, sophomore Rylee Smith scored an empty net goal at 18:57 to put the game away, 3-0. Junior Brooke Fernandez was credited with the assist on the game's final tally.

St. Lawrence will put its six-game win streak on the line tomorrow, Saturday, January 14 when the Saints head to New Haven, CT to take on Yale University at 4:00pm.
