(Boston, Mass.)- Freshman center Cortney Whalen (Hammond, N.Y.) led four players in double figures with 18 points and 13 rebounds guiding the SUNY Canton women’s basketball team past Fisher College 64-54 Wednesday afternoon in Boston.
Whalen was one of three SUNY Canton players to post a double-double as junior Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y.) had 15 points and 16 rebounds and junior forward Jackie Sedlacek (Endicott, N.Y.) added 10 points and 10 boards. Freshman forward Elissa St. Germain (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) came up one rebound shy of joining them finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Roos (4-10) raced out to a commanding 37-15 halftime advantage and out rebounded the Falcons (0-20) by an overwhelming 69-37 margin.
Javana Bernard paced Fisher with 25 points and five rebounds and Pamela Bounekhoune added 12 points and five assists.
The Roos will continue their road trip heading to Maine this weekend for games at the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Jan. 21 and the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Jan. 22.
