(Lynn, Mass.)- 11 players scored at least two points as the SUNY Canton women’s basketball team posted an overwhelming 72-12 win over Fisher College on Sunday in Lynn, Mass.
The Roos, who are ranked 14th in the USCAA Division I Coaches Poll, improved to 5-4 overall and earned a weekend split on their Massachusetts trip after Sunday’s dominating performance.
SUNY Canton out rebounded the Falcons 66-30 and made 15 steals and forced 26 Fisher turnovers.
The Roos scored the first 11 points of the game on four straight layups and a 3-pointer from senior Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y.) and eventually built a 41-5 halftime lead. SUNY Canton kept up the pressure in the second half opening the final 20 minutes with a 19-0 run and holding the Falcons scoreless through the first 10 minutes of play as they cruised to their sixth straight win between the two teams.
Myers finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four blocks to lead the Roos. Freshman Ashley Merritt (Watertown, N.Y.) matched Myers with a season-high 12 points and she also grabbed six rebounds.
Freshman Megan Morrow (Gouverneur, N.Y.) added nine points. Sophomore Corrine Riegel (Bainbridge, N.Y.) collected eight points, nine rebounds and four assists. Freshman Sierra Richardson (Springwater, N.Y.) contributed six points and a season-high 10 rebounds and juniors Alicia Uhlein (Watertown, N.Y.) and Destiny Petty (Flushing, N.Y.) both scored six points apiece.
Shakieya RolandDrake led Fisher with seven points and three rebounds.
The Roos wrap up the first semester on Tuesday, Dec. 11 hosting St. Lawrence University at 6 p.m. at Roos House.
