POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Cortland (11-13, 9-9 SUNYAC) pulled away late in the second half for a 67-55 victory over the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (1-24, 0-18) in the Bears' season finale on Saturday afternoon. Potsdam seniors Katy Briedis and Adedoyin Akingba stood tall on Senior Day. Briedis led the Bears with 16 points and Akingba recorded her first double-double with a career-high 10 points and 10 boards.

After Potsdam junior guard Hannah Kmiecinski opened the scoring with a three-pointer 30 seconds into the game, the Red Dragons answered with and 18-0 run. Cortland freshman guard Caysea Cohen scored seven points and junior guard Megan Touhey had six during the run. Bears Head Coach Tara Ruckh called a timeout down 18-3 at the 13:55 mark to settle her troops. The break worked as Potsdam fought it's way back into the contest with a 24-11streak. The Bears hit five three-pointers during the run, including two each from sophomore guard Carli Reynolds and junior forward Jessica Kouzan. A Briedis layup with 41 seconds left got Potsdam within 29-27 at the break.

The Bears continued their momentum early in the second half. Briedis tied the game with a jumper 41 seconds into the final period and Akingba put Potsdam up 31-29 a minute later. The teams traded baskets over the next four minutes. A layup from Cortland sophomore guard Lindsey Minor put the Red Dragons back in front for good and kicked off a 13-2 run. Cortland built its lead to as large as 17 with 1:52 to play. Potsdam chipped away to get to within 12 before falling 67-55.

Touhey and sophomore forward Erin Wostenholme scored a game-high 18 points for Cortland, while Cohen also reached double digits with 10 points. Kouzan chipped in 12 for Potsdam. The Red Dragons shot 41.1 percent from the floor, while the Bears finished at 38.8 percent.

Briedis finishes her Potsdam career in ninth place on the Bears' all-time scoring list with 779 points.
