Utica, NY - Despite advantages in shots, shots on goal and corner kicks, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team found itself on the short end of a 1-0 defeat against Utica College in non-league action Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 3-2-1 overall on the season, while Utica pushed its mark to 2-3-1. Clarkson hopes to head into conference play on a high note when it travels to face local rival SUNY Canton on Wednesday evening.

Utica scored on one of only two shots on goal in the first half when AnnaLisa MacPhee found Katherine Migliori at the 23:36 mark to put the Pioneers on top 1-0. Clarkson peppered Pioneers goalkeeper Allison Wagner with five shots on goal in the first half, but couldn't sneak one past the junior.

Clarkson and Utica played even in the second half with each team recording three shots on goal, but the Migliori goal proved to be enough. Clarkson owned an 11-9 edge in shots, an 8-5 lead in shots on goal and a 2-1 advantage in corner kick chances. Elyse Green made four saves for the Golden Knights, while Wagner denied eight shots for the Pioneers.
