Potsdam, NY - Through the first 100 minutes, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team had dodged some bullets in the way of Skidmore's offense, but the Golden Knights defense stood strong in denying any goals to cross the line. However, the second overtime saw a 2-on-1 situation develop into an odd goal for the Thoroughbreds and Skidmore came away with a 1-0 Liberty League victory Saturday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights fell to 8-5-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the Liberty League, their third overtime loss in league play this season. Skidmore clinched a playoff spot with its victory, moving to 5-2 in conference games and 11-4 on the season.

Skidmore had numerous chances on the Clarkson frame in the first half, outshooting the Golden Knights 14-0, but freshman goalkeeper Kim Kenline (Akron, NY) made some solid saves on some point-blank shots and the Clarkson defense squashed several other Thoroughbred runs. In the second half, it was more of the same for Clarkson, as the defense stood strong until the offense could get going. Kenline made a reaction save on a header from just a few feet away late in the half to keep the game scoreless.

Clarkson was held without a shot until the final minute of regulation, when Hilary Mosher (Hilton, NY) nearly provided a score for the upset. She was able to squeak past the defenders and nicked a ball just enough from outside the penalty area with the goalkeeper coming out, but the ball rolled wide with 30 seconds to go in the game.

The tie-breaking score came in the 103rd minute as Skidmore found itself with a 2-on-1 chance. Morgan Governale had just one defender to beat for a shot on the Clarkson goal, but sent a pass across the box to Kelsey Yam. Yam returned the favor to Governale and she took a shot from in close that hit the left post and bounced out with a few swings missing on the clear. There, Christine Bellotti was able to hit a soft grounder into the net, which was nearly cleared before it bounced over the goal line at 102:37.

Kenline finished with 10 saves for the Knights, while Meghan Sleezer did not make any saves for Skidmore. The Thoroughbreds finished with a 24-3 edge in shots and a 3-0 advantage in corner kick chances.
