Knights womens soccer players Andres and Heenan achieve Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors

For the fourth time in five years, the Clarkson University Women’s Soccer team had one of its members named as a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American, and this year the Golden Knights saw two seniors earn the award as classmates Sarah Andres (Honeoye, NY) and Ellen Heenan (Bridgeport, NY) became the seventh and eighth members of the program to be chosen for Academic All-American honors.

Since 2008, Clarkson has had three other players earn CoSIDA Academic All-American honors, including Alix Petitti (2011), Megan Bicknell (2009), and Christie Knapp (2008). Click here for a complete list of Clarkson CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.

Andres, a four-year member of the Golden Knights’ women’s soccer program and a three-time Liberty League All-Academic member, has posted a 3.848 grade-point average with a major in biomolecular science through six semesters at Clarkson. On the field, she played in 57 games, including 41 starts, and had four goals and three assists in her career. She ranked second on the team in both goals (3) and points (7) as a junior last season.

Heenan, a three-year participant for Clarkson women’s soccer and two-time Liberty League All-Academic member, played in 45 games with 30 starts in her career with a pair of goals. Capping off her senior season, Heenan was chosen as a Liberty League Honorable Mention All-Star prior to earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. She has a 3.968 GPA in Engineering & Management.

Over the past three decades, Clarkson University has produced an impressive 84 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, with 15 taking National CoSIDA Academic All-American awards on 24 occasions. Specifically, Clarkson Women’s Soccer has had eight student-athletes gain the award, with two winning twice.
