Potsdam, NY - An early goal and a consistent offensive attack helped lead Union College to a 3-0 victory over the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team Friday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.
The Golden Knights saw their overall mark evened at 5-5-2, while falling to 0-4-1 in conference games. Union improved to 11-1 and 3-1 in league games.
Mollie Gilchrist scored a pair of goals, including what proved to be the game-winner in the opening 10 minutes of the contest. Connecting on a pass from Melissa Mansfield, Gilchrist scored at the 7:15 mark of the first half and that was all that the Dutchwomen would end up needing.
Gilchrist scored another goal early on in the second half in the 47th minute, again on a pass from Mansfield. In the waning moments, Michaela Katz converted a pass from Laura Snowden for the final 3-0 tally.
Clarkson's Kim Kenline (Akron, NY) made seven saves for the Knights, while Kayla Marti picked up three saves for the shutout. Union owned a 24-11 edge in shots and a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
