Leading scorer Nikki Carfi (Liverpool, N.Y.) scored a late goal to lead the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team a 1-0 win at RIT on Saturday afternoon.
RIT came into the game undefeated at home and threatened to take the lead multiple times in the first half. They had seven shots in the half, but Clarkson senior goalkeeper Kim Kenline (Akron, N.Y.) was able to stop all seven of them to ensure the game remained tied at half-time.
The game would remain scoreless until the 80 minute mark. Abby Gruneisen (Potsdam, N.Y.) crossed the ball into the box where Anna Demasi (Colchester, V.T.) settled it down to Lauren Flynn (Andover, M.A.). Flynn passed it to Carfi who one timed it into the back of the net. It would prove to be the Golden Knights' only shot on goal in the game, but it would be enough as Clarkson did not give RIT any chances to tie the game in the last ten minutes.
The Green and Gold will return home next weekend as they host RPI on Friday at 4:00 pm and then Union comes to town on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
