Potsdam, NY – In 110 minutes of action, two goals came just 97 seconds apart, but both the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team and Union College came away with one goal as the two teams ended in a 1-1 double overtime tie on Saturday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights moved to 5-8-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the Liberty League while Union moved to 6-6-2 and 3-3-1. Clarkson faces St. Lawrence University on Tuesday night in Potsdam.

More than half of the shots on goal came in the first half as opposed to the final 65 minutes, and Union had a few chances later in the half. One shot went wide in the 40th minute for the Dutchwomen and Christine Hill hit the post at 44:12. Alexa Cornacchia also tried for a shot on the frame with just nine seconds left, but Elyse Green was there to make the save for the Golden Knights.

In the 50th minute, Clarkson got on the scoreboard first as Summer Gillespie found Giulia Mahoney on a run, and the junior took a shot from the left side that bounced between the two posts before ending up over the goal line at 49:42. The lead was short-lived, however, as Clarkson was whistled for a foul, setting up a set piece direct kick. Bella Dworkin went to the bottom left corner with her shot and tied the game back up at 51:19.

Union nearly jumped ahead eight minutes later when a header from Christine Hill hit the crossbar right after a Dutchwomen corner kick. That was Union's last best chance for the game, but Clarkson did not have much in the way of scoring opportunities either. Camryn Careccia hit a hard ball in the 82nd minute and Mahoney hit a solid shot from about 25 yards out in the 109th minute, but both were denied by Kelsey Hartsoe to preserve the 1-1 tie.

Clarkson enjoyed a small 19-15 advantage in shots and the two teams were tied up in corner kick chances at 5-5. Elyse Green made two saves for the Golden Knights, while Kelsey Hartsoe stopped eight shots for the Dutchwomen.
