Potsdam, NY – Four straight goals in the final 13 minutes turned a one-goal deficit into a three-goal victory for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team as the Golden Knights claimed their first-ever Liberty League playoff berth with an 11-8 victory over University of Rochester Saturday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 12-5 overall and 6-4 in the Liberty League while Rochester dropped to 5-10 and 4-6. Clarkson will either be the fifth or sixth seed in the conference tournament depending on the outcome of RIT's game late on Saturday.

Trailing throughout the first half, Rochester tied the score for the first time with 21:23 to go (6-6) and then scored two goals near the midway point of the second half to take its only lead when Maggie McKenna tallied at 15:50 and Jamison Seabury followed with a goal at 13:21. Clarkson took little time to respond to its first deficit of the contest as Jaid Baytos scored on a spin move up close at 12:38 to knot the game at 8-8. Baytos then slipped through the Rochester defense at 10:02 to put Clarkson up 9-8, but perhaps the biggest goals of the game came in the final five minutes when the Knights established some breathing room.

Rochester was whistled for an illegal check at 5:43, creating an opportunity for the Knights while up a player. Clarkson would convert when Emma Andrews found Abby Collins in front at 4:56, scoring on a one-timer to give the Knights a 10-8 edge. Just 23 seconds later Katie Sergeant was awarded a free-position attempt and she cruised past four defenders and whipped a shot over the Rochester goalkeeper's right shoulder to put Clarkson up 11-8. Clarkson did its best to hold on to the ball and run out the clock, but the Yellowjackets were able to get two more shots off in the final few minutes. However, Rochester was unable to convert and Clarkson sprinted around the field in the final 50 seconds to gain the win.

Junior Jaid Baytos continued her recent offensive assault, scoring six points on three goals and three assists while also earning six draw controls. Katie Sergeant notched four points with three goals and an assist and Aubrey Borgesi scored two goals and recorded a team-best four groundballs. Samantha Gladd denied 10 shots in the Clarkson crease. The Knights outshot Rochester 34-23 and won 14 of the 21 draws.

Jamison Seabury scored three times and both Madeline Levy and Maggie McKenna recorded two goals. Brigid Regan also added a pair of assists. Conley Ernst made 15 saves for the Yellowjackets.
