Potsdam, NY – Up by a goal midway through the first half, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team suffered through a 45-minute scoreless drought and finished on the short end of an 11-5 decision against 16th-ranked Ithaca College in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights saw their six-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the Liberty League, while Ithaca remained unbeaten in conference games at 5-0 and moved to 8-3 overall. Clarkson will look to get back on track when its hosts St. Lawrence University at 4:00 pm on Wednesday.

After a Jaid Baytos goal at the 15:55 mark in the first half put the Knights up 4-3, Clarkson would be unable to find the twine again until the last minute of the game when Emma Andrews scored with 28 seconds remaining, a stretch of 45 minutes, 27 seconds. In that time, Ithaca was able to score eight consecutive goals, including three late in the first half that were separated by less than two minutes.

After gaining the 4-3 lead, the Knights committed six turnovers and recorded just three shots in the last 15:50 of the first half, while Ithaca steadily recovered and regained the advantage. The second half was mostly even, except for the scoreboard, as the two teams were tied in shots (10-10) and nearly even in groundballs (11-10, Ithaca). However, the Golden Knights coughed up the ball three more times than the Bombers and could clear the zone on just 7 of 12 opportunities.

For Clarkson, Jaid Baytos climbed to within one point of 100 for her career with two goals, a figure that was matched in the game by Emma Andrews. Katie Sergeant also added two assists. Golden Knight goalkeeper Samantha Gladd made 11 saves and led the team with six groundballs.

Elizabeth Rice led the way for Ithaca with five points, scoring four goals and adding an assist, while Allie Panara contributed two goals and two assists and Bailey Herr chipped in three goals. Molly Long scooped up four groundballs and caused three turnovers and Elizabeth Sauer added three groundballs while causing four turnovers. Kimberly Presuto made nine saves in the Ithaca crease.
