Potsdam, NY - Overlapping the first and second halves, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team used a 29-6 run to create a blowout win over RIT, 75-40, Friday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 13-5 overall and 6-3 in the Liberty League with the victory, while the Tigers dropped to 8-10 overall and 2-7 in conference play. Clarkson will face William Smith on Saturday afternoon, and RIT will travel to play St. Lawrence.

Clarkson came out scoring, rushing out to a 13-0 advantage before the Tigers finally got on the scoreboard at 15:06 on a jumper from Sarah Wolcott. The Knights weren't done though, stretching the margin to as many as 16 points (18-2) when Ashley Loggins buried a 3-pointer just 40 seconds later. However, the Knights struggled in the next eight minutes as RIT slowly chipped away at the deficit, using a 15-2 run that cut the lead to as few as three points. Clarkson responded with back-to-back 3-pointers from Devin Sorell to go back up by nine points (26-17) and closed out the half with a 15-4 run in the final five-plus minutes, capped off by a pair of free throws from Loggins with no time left on the clock.

Loggins had 15 points at the break to go along with six rebounds while Sorell produced eight points. Clarkson shot just 37.1% from the floor, but that was better than the Tigers' 28.0%, and RIT also committed 14 turnovers.

In the second half, the Knights used 3-pointers from Cara Manfredi and some slashing moves in the paint from a number of different performers to edge out to a 26-point advantage (49-23) at the 15:12 mark. Though the Tigers would cut into the lead a little, the Knights would never be seriously challenged for the rest of the game, watching the margin reach the 30s before finally settling at 35.

While Clarkson shot better in the second half (46.9%, 15-for-32), the Tigers got worse (20.8%, 5-for-24), with RIT strugglign from outside overall in the game with just two makes in 11 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc. Manfredi finished with a game-high 23 points, going 8-for-19 from the floor, and Loggins produced a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with five steals. Stephanie Grobe tossed in 14 points before fouling out and Devin Sorell added 10 points. Alyssia Marsal also had a solid all-around game outside the scoring column, making five steals, dishing out seven assists, and grabbing five boards. No RIT players finished in double figures, though Jessica Glaz was close with eight points.
