A three-goal burst late in the first period was more than enough for the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team on Tuesday night as the Golden Knights cruised to a 5-0 non-league victory at Syracuse University.

Senior Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) made 19 saves for her NCAA-leading eighth shutout, backstopping Clarkson to its fourth consecutive win. Ranked 3rd in the national polls, the Knights improve to 15-3-1 overall. The Green and Gold, who own a share of first place in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 6-2 league mark, return to conference play this weekend in NY's Capital District to close out a stretch of five games in 10 days. Clarkson plays at Union on Friday and at Rensselaer on Saturday in its final games of 2017.

Sophomore Michaela Pejzlova (Pardubice Czech Republic) continued her torrid scoring pace, adding two more goals. Centering one of the top lines in the nation, Pejzlova has tallied 11 goals over the past 10 games and now has 15 goals and 26 points on the season as Clarkson's third-leading scorer.

Clarkson took control of the game against Syracuse (5-9-2) at Tennity Ice Pavilion with three goals in a span of 2 minutes 50 seconds late in the opening stanza.

Senior Amanda Titus (Stittsville, ONT) scored the game's first goal with a quick wrist shot from the high slot. Junior defenseman Josiane Pozzebon (Bourget, ONT) started the play, freeing the puck off the boards and feeding Titus for her fifth goal of the season at 16:27.

Freshman sensation Elizabeth Giguere (Quebec City, QUE) knocked in a bouncing puck at 18:51 for her 13th goal of her rookie campaign. Clarkson's leading scorer, junior Loren Gabel (Kitchener, ONT) set up her linemate.

Twenty-six seconds later Pejzlova scored her first of the night on a shot from the left circle with Giguere and Gabel assisting. For Gabel that was her 100th career point (53-47).

The Knights did not let up to start the second period as freshman Kristy Pidgeon (Ingleside, ONT) scored just 39 seconds in for her third goal of the season. Juniors Rhyen McGill (Whitby, ONT) and Cassidy Vinkle (Belleville, ONT) assisted.

Pejzlova closed out the scoring at 15:15 of the middle frame. Giguere earned her second assist of the night and senior defenseman, captain Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove, IL) also helped to set up the goal, picking up her 98th career point (25-73).

Clarkson outshot the Orange 35-19.

The Knights went 0-of-3 on the power play and Syracuse came up scoreless on it lone man-advantage chance.
