After three straight games without a win, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team bounced back with a convincing 6-0 victory over visiting Brown on Saturday afternoon in Cheel Arena.

Clarkson is now 16-8-3 overall and is 10-3-2 in ECAC Hockey play while Brown is 5-18-0 overall and 2-14-0 in ECAC Hockey games.

The Golden Knights opened the scoring at 7:55 in the first period when senior Christine Lambert's (Thetford Mines, QUE) pass found junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT) across the ice with Mercer finishing it for her 15th goal of the season. Senior Daniella Matteucci (Fruitvale, BC) also picked up an assist on the goal.

Less than two minutes later, Clarkson doubled its lead. Lambert stole the puck behind the Brown net and passed to junior assistant captain Olivia Howe (Moose Jaw, SASK) in the slot who scored. After her two goals yesterday against Yale, the two assists today for Lambert give her consecutive multiple point games for the first time this season.

Clarkson would add three goals in the second period to kill off any chance of a Brown comeback. The first came at 5:14 when junior captain Shannon MacAulay (Mt. Herbert, PEI) saw her shot bounce off the skate of the Brown goalie and right to sophomore Genevieve Bannon (Candiac, QUE) who had a simple tap-in for the third Clarkson goal.

The next two goals came with less than three minutes left in the period. First, junior assistant captain Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) had her slap-shot from the blue-line find the back of the net during a power-play and then Howe took the puck from a Yale defender and scored on a break-away for her second goal of the game. MacAulay and Mercer had assists on Ambrose's goal while Howe's goal was unassisted.

At 13:55 in the third period, MacAulay would get a goal of her own during a power play, with Lambert picking up a third assist of the game and Ambrose also getting an assist.

Freshman goaltender Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) had 15 saves to complete her sixth shutout of the season. A day after taking 45 shots, Clarkson uncorked 48 shots against Brown while allowing only 15. Clarkson scored on two of their four man-advantage opportunities while killing the sole Brown opportunity.

Clarkson will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to St. Lawrence for a game at 7:00 pm.
