Knights women's hockey return to action hosting top-10 ranked Harvard and Dartmouth

After a weekend without any games, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team will return home to Cheel Arena to take on two nationally ranked ECAC Hockey opponents. First the Golden Knights will host 4th-ranked Harvard on Friday at 7:00 pm and then will match-up against 10th ranked Dartmouth for a 4:00 pm game on Saturday.

Guided by seventh-year head coach Matt Desrosiers and first-year assistant coaches Meghan Duggan and Britni Smith, the Green and Gold have an overall record of 8-3 and an ECAC Hockey record of 3-0 and are ranked seventh in the national polls. They are currently riding a five-game winning streak and in that span have outscored their opponents 25-3. Their last two games, on 10/31 and 11/1, resulted in 5-1 and 2-1 road wins over Brown and Yale respectively.

Harvard is perfect on its young season at 2-0 after defeating Rensselaer (4-1) and Union (5-2) at Bright Hockey Center two weeks ago. The Crimson, who were off last week, are led in scoring by Miye D'Oench who has four goals and five points. Molly Tissenbaum and Brianna Laing have each earned one start in the Crimson net.

Dartmouth enters the North Country with a 4-0 record. The Big Green skated past St. Lawrence (5-1) in a non-league contest last Saturday in Rochester, NY. Dartmouth swept Union (3-0) and Rensselaer (5-2) in its ECAC Hockey openers on October 31 and November 1 at Thompson Arena in Hanover, NH. Laura Stacey leads the Big Green in scoring with eight points (3-5), while Lindsey Allen has scored a team-high six goals. Robyn Chemago has seen all the action in the Dartmouth crease and posts a .943 save percentage and a 1.25 goals against average.

Clarkson, which won the last meeting against Harvard, trails in their all-time series 18-8-2. The Knights have won seven straight over Dartmouth to take a one-game lead in their series, 11-10-4.

• Junior captain Shannon MacAuley (Mt. Herbert,PEI) was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for October. She is the team leader in points with 18 and goals with 9. She is currently on a five-game point-scoring streak (6-8). She tallied her first-career hat trick in a 5-0 win against St. Lawrence (10/28) and has posted five multiple-point games, including two four-point outings.

• Freshman goalkeeper Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month. She has played in every game, including 10 starts. She has played in eight games where she allowed only one goal-or-less including three shutouts. She has 5-1 record in road games, including a 2-1 win at Yale (11/1) where she made a career high 32 saves.

• Freshman Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove, IL) was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week of October 27th. In three conference games, she recorded five points on two goals and three assists from the blueline in helping lead Clarkson to a perfect start in league play. Overall this season, she has 10 points on four goals and six assists.

• Junior assistant captain Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) returns from helping lead Team Canada to the 2014 4 Nations Cup. Ambrose was joined on the victorious Canada squad by former Golden Knight teammates Erica Howe '14 and Jamie Lee Rattray '14.

• Junior assistant captain Renata Fast (Burlington, ONT) made her season debut against Brown has already picked up two assist, one each against the Brown and Yale. Along with Fast, both freshman Brielle Bellerive (North Vancouver, BC) and senior Christine Lambert (Thetford Mines, QUE) picked up points in both games. Bellerive had the game-winning goal against Brown and then added an assist against Yale, while Lambert had assists in both contests.

• Junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT) and sophomore Genevieve Bannon (Candiac, QUE) share the team lead in assists with MacAuley as all three currently have nine helpers. Mercer picked up two asists in the midweek 5-0 win over St. Lawrence while Bannon had five in two wins against Syracuse, including a 5 point game (3-2) in the 9-0 win over the Orange.

• Clarkson currently has the fifth ranked scoring offense in the country with 3.73 goals per game and is fourth ranked in man advantage opportunities, scoring on 35.5%(11/31) of them.

• The Golden Knights have not lost in their last 19 ECAC Hockey regular season games, winning 16 games and tying three in that span.
