Potsdam, NY – For the second straight game, graduate student T.T. Cianfarano stepped up on offense, producing a goal and two assists while fellow grad student Kassidy Sauve made 12 saves as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team picked up a 3-0 ECAC Hockey win over Rensselaer Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena.

The Golden Knights, currently third in the national polls, moved to 9-1-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in conference games, while the Engineers fell to 2-5-2 and 0-2-0. Clarkson will be off next weekend, but hits the road the following weekend to play Brown and Yale.

The results of the first period on Saturday were eerily similar to those of Friday night, as the Golden Knights again controlled the puck through most of the period, attempting 23 shots overall with 12 on goal, but without anything to show for the effort. Clarkson's best chance in the first came in the middle of the period when the Knights went on the power play due to a hooking call on the Engineers. Within five seconds, Clarkson had a shot on goal but the Green and Gold could not break through the RPI defense despite not allowing the puck to clear the red line until there was just 10 seconds left in the power play chance.

Although the Knights busted out with five goals in the second period on Friday, they would have to settle for just a single score in the middle frame on Saturday afternoon. However, the names were just as familiar. Elizabeth Giguere won possession of the puck on the boards in the Clarkson defensive end and dropped a no-look pass to Michaela Pejzlova in the middle of the zone. Pejzlova then found T.T. Cianfarano along the left sideboards between the blue line and red line, and the graduate transfer skated in alone with just one defender to beat, which she did, closing things out with a wrist shot over the glove of RPI goaltender Lovisa Selander at 4:02. The goal was Cianfarano's fifth goal of the season, while both Giguere and Pejzlova recorded their 11th assists of the campaign.

Late in the period, RPI had its best scoring chances as the Knights were a little out of their system, as the Engineers put one shot off the post and had another cleared away without any damage done.

Clarkson picked up its first insurance goal early on in the third period when Cianfarano and Taylor Turnquist worked the puck around and found Emma Keenan at the bottom of the left circle. Keenan blasted in a one-timer from up close for her first goal of the season and just the second of her career.

Late in the period, RPI pulled its goalie for an extra attacker but did not muster much in the way of chances or pressure. Pejzlova took a crack at the net from 150-feet away and just missed the post with 9.9 seconds left in the game, but the ensuing faceoff saw a repeat of the play, though this time Pejzlova was a little closer and converted the empty-netter with just one second to go. Both Cianfarano and Josiane Pozzebon were awarded assists on the second insurance goal.

Clarkson possessed an overwhelming advantage in shots at 40-12, as Kassidy Sauve recorded her second shutout of the year with 12 stops. At the other end, Selander made 37 saves for the Engineers. Clarkson was 0-for-3 on the power play and RPI was scoreless in its one power play chance.
