A three-point day for freshman Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove, IL) helped ensure the eighth-ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey team remained undefeated in 2015 as the Golden Knights knocked off RPI 4-2 in Cheel Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Clarkson is now 15-6-2 overall and 9-2-2 in ECAC Hockey play, which puts them in second place in the conference. RPI falls to 4-17-3 and is 2-10-0 in conference action.

"We got off to another quick start scoring early in the game that helped us get the momentum in our favor," said Clarkson Head Coach Matt Desrosiers. "I thought RPI responded well after that though and out worked us in a few areas to end the first period. We regrouped between periods and thought our players battling the next two periods to build a lead and get the win. There were a lot of goods things we can take from this weekend as well as a couple areas we can look to improve upon this week in practice before heading out to play a tough Wisconsin team."

Clarkson started the game strong and for the second game in a row they scored less than three minutes into the contest. This time it was freshman Amanda Titus (Stittsville, ONT) when she redirected a Harmon shot into the back of the net at 2:48. It was the fifth goal of the season for Titus with Harmon picking up her 10th assist of the season and fellow freshman Brielle Bellerive (N. Vancouver, BC) getting her eighth helper of the year.

RPI would tie the game at 13:09 when Ali Svoboda was able to dig the puck out in front of the net and beat Clarkson freshman goaltender Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT). After 20 minutes the game would remain tied at 1.

After a penalty for each team, Clarkson would score during 4-on-4 hockey. Junior assistant captain Olivia Howe (Moose Jaw, SASK) saw her backhand shot deflect off the skate of an RPI player and into the net to give the Golden Knights the lead at 9:49 in the second period. Seniors Jennifer Shields (Ingersoll, ONT) and Christine Lambert (Thetford Mines, QUE) had assists on the goal.

Just three minutes later, Clarkson would add another when Harmon knocked in the rebound from a shot by junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT). Harmon now has five goals on the season with Mercer now at a team-leading 15 assists. Junior captain Shannon MacAulay (Mt. Herbert, PEI) also picked up her 13th assist of the season on the goal.

Clarkson would get a fourth goal at 14:56 in the third period when Mercer redirected in a Harmon shot, with Genvevieve Bannon (Candiac, QUE) also getting an assist. Less than a minute later, Clarkson thought they had added another when Bellerive put the puck in the back of the net, but after review the referees waved the goal off because of a high stick.

RPI made it a two-goal game when Jenn Godin scored with 31 seconds remaining. Clarkson was able to see the final seconds out and finish their second win of the weekend.

Tiley would finish with 21 saves on the night while her RPI counterpart Kelly O'Brien had 32 saves for the Engineers. Clarkson had a 36-23 advantage on shots, went 0-5 on man-advantage opportunities and killed all five RPI power plays.

Clarkson will take a break from ECAC Hockey play next weekend when they travel to play at third-ranked University of Wisconsin. Clarkson will play at 3:00 pm on Saturday and then will play Wisconsin again at 1:07 on Sunday.
