Winners of three straight games, the 4th/5th-ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey team will try to complete an unbeaten January when they travel to take on Union College on Friday evening before taking on Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon.

Guided by sixth-year co-head coaches Matt and Shannon Desrosiers, and assistant coach Matt Kelly, the Golden Knights are 7-0-1 in their last eight games. Last weekend the Knights took down Colgate University 5-2 on Friday night before defeating 3rd-ranked Cornell University 3-1 on Saturday.

Clarkson now stands at 19-4-3 (10-2-2 ECAC Hockey) and the win over Cornell last weekend moved them up into second place in the conference with 22 points, one ahead of Cornell and three back of leader Harvard, but with a game in hand on the Crimson.

The Lil Knights Club will be partnering with the Clarkson University Women's and Men's Hockey teams to help raise donations for the Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyette Memorial Youth Project at upcoming Golden Knight games at Cheel Arena in February.

Senior Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, ONT) is coming off a six-point weekend in which she tallied four goals and two assists, including three goals and an assist in the win over Colgate. Selected ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, Rattray leads the country with 42 points and 23 goals, and is averaging 1.62 points per game.

Another six-point weekend belonged to sophomore Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) as she recorded six assists in the sweep over the Raiders and the Big Red. Ambrose leads all defenseman in the nation with 1.38 points per game, and sits second in the nation with 26 assists. She is also tied for first with six power-play goals.

Senior captain Carly Mercer (Exeter, ONT) continues her hot streak, now tallying at least one point in 10 of the last 11 games, including two goals and two assists last weekend.

Between the pipes, senior goaltender Erica Howe (Ottawa, ONT) continues to impress as she picked up another pair of victories last weekend. She stands at third in the nation with a 1.12 goals-against average and tied for first with nine shutouts. After surrendering six goals to the Big Red the first time around, Howe held them to a single goal to pick up a big win for the Knights.

Conference play has not been kind to the Union Dutchwomen, as they enter the weekend having lost five straight games. Sitting at 8-17-1 (3-11-0 ECAC Hockey), Union is currently in 10th place in the conference. The Dutchwomen have been outscored by opponents 77-46 this season and have only beaten the Golden Knights one time in 20 tries.

Currently tied for the final playoff spot, the RPI Engineers enter the weekend at 10-13-2 (6-7-1 ECAC Hockey). Although they may be in 8th place, they have already beaten Harvard this year, as well as 4th place Quinnipiac. No one has more than 16 points offensively, but the Engineers do not allow many goals either, outscoring opponents 55-54 on the year.
