Potsdam, NY – With an overwhelming advantage on the glass, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team won its fifth straight game against Potsdam State, claiming a 63-42 victory against its crosstown rival on Tuesday night at Maxcy Hall.

The Golden Knights improved to 3-2 on the season, while the Bears dropped to 1-3 in 2014-15. Clarkson will have its home-opener this Saturday when the team hosts Elmira College. Clarkson's 21-point win was the largest victory over the Bears since the Knights won by 30 (72-42) in 2000-01.

Potsdam held a modest one-point lead in the early going, but Clarkson used a 7-0 run in the next few minutes of the contest and was never seriously challenged again, leading by 12 at the half by forcing the Bears to shoot just 25.0% from the floor (7-for-28) in the first half. Any hopes of a comeback by Potsdam was squashed in the early moments of the second half as Clarkson went on a 15-2 run in a stretch of five minutes, doubling up Potsdam 48-24 at the 14:08 mark following a jumper from Stephanie Grobe (White River Junction, VT). The 24-point lead that Clarkson held at that point would be matched on several occasions for the remainder of the game, but the Knights would never push past that advantage, finishing with a 21-point margin.

Thanks to a dominating effort on the boards (58-32), Clarkson was able to get 21 extra chances on offense, taking 11 more shots than the Bears overall. Sophomore Alyssia Marsal (Clifton Park, NY) enjoyed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 6-for-9 from the field and Grobe nearly matched her with eight points and 10 boards. Ashley Loggins (Albany, NY) led the Knights offensively with 17 points and also added in seven rebounds, while Cara Manfredi (Glastonbury, CT) chipped in 11 points. For Potsdam, Carli Reyonolds tossed in 15 points while Bailey Weigel recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards, but shot only 3-for-16 from the floor.
