Oswego State’s Kassie Kleine scored a goal in each half to lift the visiting Lakers to a 2-0 win over the Clarkson University Women’s Soccer team on Tuesday evening at Hantz Turf Field.
The Golden Knights, who dropped their second straight, fall to 8-6-1 and will close out the season at archrival St. Lawrence University on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game.
Kleine tallied in her first goal of the game in the 17th minute, knocking in a rebound at the side of the net after Clarkson’s freshman goaltender Kim Kenline made a diving stop off a shot by Nikki Liadka.
Kleine and Liadka teamed up again in the 74th minutes with Kleine connecting on a cross with a shot from the top of the box, scoring her seventh goal of the season.
Oswego (10-8) outshot the Knights 18-11 and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Kenline and classmate Brianna Thibeau (Salem, NY) posted four saves apiece with each playing a half in the Clarkson net. Emily Varonier made five saves for the Lakers.
