Potsdam, NY – On a cold and windy day, the Clarkson University Cross Country team played host for the Liberty League Championships as both the Golden Knights' women and men placed sixth overall at the conference championship, held on Munter Trail.

In the women's race, Clarkson finished in sixth with 152 points, trailing St. Lawrence (29), Rensselaer (41), Vassar (87), RIT (102), and Ithaca (117) and ahead of William Smith (213), Union (251) and Bard (285). On the men's side, the Golden Knights ended up with 209 points, behind Rensselaer (27), RIT (48), St. Lawrence (69), Ithaca (101), and Vassar (135) but in front of Union (218), Hobart (224) and Bard (277).

The runners had the fortune of avoiding the rain and sleet that came in the afternoon, but conditions were still less than ideal, hovering around 40 degrees with a swirling breeze. The course still ran quick with graduate student Abigail Sullivan coming in 13th among 115 runners with a time of 22 minutes, 42.5 seconds in the 6,000-meter event, just a little over 27 seconds off the pace set by the race's winner Ashley Walker (SLU). Sullivan's finish earned her Liberty League Second-Team All-Star status. Junior exchange student Jessie Muirden was next for the Golden Knights, coming in 24th in 23:10.4, narrowly missing Liberty League Honorable Mention. A few days prior to the event, the coaching staff was unsure if either Alison Davis or Sarah Duclos would be able to run, but both still performed well despite their injuries, with Davis coming in 42nd in 23:37.9 and Duclos crossing the finish line at 23:46.5 for 51st. Junior Erika Abrantes closed out the Clarkson scoring by finishing one spot behind Duclos, taking 52nd in 23:48.2. Sixth-place was more than secured by the finishes of freshman Elizabeth Fawwaz (53rd, 23:48.5) and sophomore Kelsey Wenger (59th, 24:00.2).

On the men's side, Clarkson's top five were separated by just 22 seconds. Junior Seth Richardson came in 62nd with a time of 27:23.3 and senior Austin Smith placed 64th in 27:33.3. One position later was senior Jack Broderick in 65th in 27:34.4. Freshman Sean Byrnes and sophomore Brandon George were stride for stride down the stretch, with Byrnes just edging out George by two-tenths of a second with a time of 27:45.0, compared to George's 27:45.2. The pair came in 70th and 71st, respectively, to finish the Knights scoring. Freshman Kevin Cronin closed in 82nd in 28:15.3 and senior Michael Leczinsky ended up in 83rd with a time of 28:18.4.
