Powered by another high-scoring offensive effort, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse closed out the regular season with a 15-11 road win at rival Rensselaer in Troy, NY on Saturday afternoon to clinch a berth in the upcoming Liberty League playoffs.

The Golden Knights, who won their final two games of the regular season, own a 9-5 overall record and earned the fourth seed in the conference postseason with a 4-3 Liberty League mark. Clarkson will face top-seeded RIT in Rochester in the semifinal round of the league playoffs on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The Green and Gold handed nationally third-ranked RIT its only conference loss this season, a 9-6 win at Hantz Field on March 25, snapping the Tigers' streak of 39 consecutive wins against Liberty League foes.

Seniors Ryan St. Croix and Ryan DaRin played key roles in the Clarkson victory at RPI and extended their collegiate career for at least one more game with four goals apiece against the Engineers.

The Knights never trailed against the Engineers (10-5, 3-4) and held a 9-5 lead at the half. After RPI outscored the Green and Gold 4-2 in the third quarter to close the gap to 11-9 after 45 minutes, Clarkson finished strong in the final period. The Knights outscored the home team 4-2 over the final 15 minutes to secure its second Liberty League playoff berth in the past three years.

Senior Kyle Brown and sophomore Shane Kilday both tallied two goals and one assist in Clarkson's third highest offensive outing of the season.

The Knights' outshot the Engineers 48-33 and controlled ground balls 33-26.

Freshman Ryan Gabriel was the catalyst for the Knights' offense, winning 18-of-30 face offs along with picking up a game-high six ground balls.

Junior Tim St. Croix came on in relief of senior Nick Strandholm in the Clarkson goal, playing the final 39 minutes to record the win with a seven-save effort.

Senior Scott Dosser, juniors Sam Groves and Mark Uhlig tallied one goal apiece for the Green and Gold.

Third-seeded Vassar plays at #2 seed St. Lawrence in the other conference semifinal game next Friday. The winners of the semifinals will meet on Sunday, May 7 at 12 noon at the home site of the highest remaining seed for the Liberty League Championship.
