Potsdam, NY - Each of the Clarkson University Golf team's top five golfers shot sub-80 Tuesday afternoon, helping lead the Golden Knights to a two-stroke victory at the Potsdam Bears Fall Golf Invitational held at the par-72 Potsdam Town and Country Club.
The Golden Knights produced a team score of 310, with Oswego State coming in second at 312. Potsdam State and SUNY Canton tied for third with scores of 319.
Potsdam's John Hickey came away with medalist honors, shooting a round of 75 overall, but the Golden Knights were the most consistent team, allowing Clarkson to come away with the win. Junior Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) and sophomore transfer Ben Stone (Parishville, NY) each were two shots (77) behind Hickey's pace, while senior Rob Wood (Westford, VT) and sophomore Evan Cody (Malta, NY) each came away with a 78. Sophomore Matt Blair (South Glens Falls, NY) was Clarkson's fifth golfer with a more than respectable 79.
