Canton, NY - Freshman Evan Cody (Malta, NY) of the Clarkson University Golf team shot a three-over par 75 to finish in a tie for fifth among 62 competitors at the abbreviated St. Lawrence Invitational this weekend.
Saturday's event was halted after five holes as rain and heavy wind made the course unplayable, but Sunday proved more hospitable as the Golden Knights finished eighth among 12 teams.
Evan Cody shot a steady 75 with 38 on the front and 37 on the back nine. Sophomore Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) shot 79, with a 40 on the front nine and 39 on the back, while freshman Scott Henning (Vienna, VA) started strong with a 38 on the front nine and finished 41 on the back, also scoring a 79. Senior Mike Mailhot (Massena, NY) rounded out the scoring for the Knights with a round of 85, and junior Rob Wood (Westford, VT) closed with an 86.
Clarkson will compete in the annual Duke Nelson Invitational, held at Middlebury College, this weekend.
