Potsdam, NY - In what was the final home meet of the season, the Clarkson University Swimming team's seniors went out in style by claiming a seventh straight sweep of Utica College on Saturday afternoon at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights' men earned a 118-60 victory over the Pioneers while the women nearly matched the margin by winning 112-57. The Golden Knights will next compete in the annual UNYSCSA Regional meet in 11 days, held at the Webster Aquatics Center near Rochester, NY.

Clarkson's teams combined to win 16 of the day's 22 events, with each team winning eight races. Freshmen Abigail Sullivan and Tiffany Catano each won two individual events and swam on the winning 200 medley relay, which opened the day's events, in 2:14.29. Sullivan won the 200 freestyle (2:16.62) and later came back to claim the top spot in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.64), while Catano earned the best finish in the 100 backstroke (1:12.19) and the 200 individual medley (2:47.71). Joining Catano and Sullivaon on the winning 200 medley relay squad were seniors Jackie Yeaton and Deonna Coleman.

Freshman Rachel Barclay started the individual events with a victory in the 800 freestyle and senior Kelly Mulvehill also won one of the freestyle distance events, finishing the 400 in 5:28.55. Clarkson ended the day with a win in the 200 freestyle relay thanks to a team of Kayla Weckesser, Sarah Mykins, Sarah Halstead, and Kelly Ludke, with a time of 2:05.14, but the event was swam by that "A' relay as an exhibition.

On the men's side, sophomore Chris Bay (Greene, NY) won a pair of sprint freestyle events, taking the 50 free in 26.03 seconds and winning the 100 free in 58.35 seconds. Senior Tyler Nichols also won a pair of events, though his second victory was an exhibition event since the Knights had a solid advantage by that point. Nichols picked up a win in the 200 freestyle (2:08.18) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.74). Juniors Sam Zagrobelny and Sam Zwierzchowski also won the distance freestyle events, with Zagrobelny earning the top spot in the 800 freestyle in 9:59.43 and Zwierzchowski touching the pad first in the 400 freestyle in 4:40.86. The Knights' 200 medley relay started the day with a win as the team of Nick Short, Nichols, Zagrobelny and Bay finished in 1:56.39, and the 200 freestyle relay squad of Zagrobelny, Zwierzchowski, Ray Bailey and Alex Trass ended the day with a win with a time of 1:49.29, though the race was swam as an exhibition.
