Juniors Kelly Ludeke (Burnt Hills, NY) and Al Catano (Ronkonkoma, NY) each won three individual events as the Clarkson University Men's and Women's Swimming teams cruised to dual meet victories over Utica College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights' men won 166-105 although the last two events were swam as exhibitions by Clarkson's participants, and the Knights' women won 139-97. Clarkson will close out its dual meet season next weekend when it hosts Potsdam State at 4:00 pm on Friday at Fuller Pool.

Overall, Clarkson won 18 individual events with just one being swam as an exhibition, with the women winning nine and the men winning eight plus the exhibition. Ludeke was utilized in the specialty strokes, winning both the 100 breaststroke (1:15.51) and 200 breaststroke (2:45.67) before winning top honors in the 200 individual medley (2:30.90). Ludeke wasn't alone as a repeat winner for Clarkson as classmate Kelly Mulvehill (Penfield, NY) won a pair of distance events, claiming the 1000 freestyle in 12:35.77 and the 500 freestyle in 6:08.85, and freshman Sarah Halstead (Milford, NH) took both the 100 backstroke (1:06.77) and 200 backstroke (2:28.53) events. Joining that trio as winners were Deonna Coleman (Derby, NY), who won the 200 freestyle (2:14.74) and Jaclyn Yeaton (Merrimack, NH), who finished first in the 200 butterfly (2:40.38). Clarkson's women also closed out the races with a 200 freestyle relay victory thanks to Halstead, Abby Luber (Camillus, NY), Coleman and Ludeke (1:53.09).

Catano matched Ludeke with three individual wins on the men's side, taking the 1000 freestyle (10:57.98), the 200 butterfly (2:04.26) and the 100 butterfly (54.62). He was the only multiple event winner for Clarkson as coach Mick Maguire spread the Golden Knights around in the meet. Junior Tyler Nichols (Spencerport, NY) finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:55.19) and sophomore Jon Ketcham (East Aurora, NY) claimed the top spot in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.33). Senior Liam Sharkey (Malta, NY) and Chris Bay (Greene, NY) each won the 50 freestyle (23.65) and 100 freestyle (52.51) races, respectively, and Nick Short (Endwell, NY) picked up a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.40). Junior Kyle Hancock (Essex, VT) also won the 200 individual medley in 2:08.78, but didn't earn the points for Clarkson as he swam the event as an exhibition. Clarkson also opened the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay, led by Kyle Atkinson (Baldwinsville, NY), Hancock, Nate Menapace (Baldwinsville, NY), and Andrew Zielinski (Hilton, NY) with a time of 4:00.40. Clarkson's swimmers also won the 200 freestyle relay, but swam the race as an exhibition.
