Potsdam, NY - For the second night in a row, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team enjoyed success from the perimeter, burying 11 3-pointers in a 77-68 Liberty League victory over Hobart College Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights evened their conference mark at 4-4 and improved to 10-7 overall while Hobart dropped only its second game in 10 league contests and moved to 14-5 overall.

The two teams went back and forth in the opening 14 minutes of the half with nine separate tied scores and a handful of lead changes. However, a 3-pointer from Marques Charlton (Deer Park, NY) gave Clarkson a 27-24 edge at the 5:40 mark and then freshman Michael Hayduck (Clinton, NY) took over from there. The first-year guard missed his first 3-pointer, but then buried three in succession almost one minute apart from one another, giving the Knights a double-digit lead with three minutes to go in the half. From there, the Knights extended their advantage to 11 points at the half, 41-30.

Hayduck and Felix Abongo (Beacon, NY) each had nine at the half to lead Clarkson, which had only two turnovers and was shooting 61.5% overall from the floor, as well as 70% from beyond the 3-point arc. Hobart did its best to keep pace with Richie Bonney and Joe Gibbons, who contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

In the second half, Hobart continued to pound the ball inside to Bonney, who was able to make some layups and combine them with the occasional foul for three-point plays. Up by just four points (50-46) at the 11:04 mark, Clarkson got 3-pointers from Charles McAllister (Olathe, KS) and John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) in the next two minutes to push its lead back to double figures. Though Hobart would keep pace and eventually cut the margin down to seven with two minutes to go, the Knights made their free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win.

John Coleman finished with 24 points, shooting 9-for-13 from the floor, and added in seven rebounds, while Marques Charlton tossed in 15 points and also contributed four assists and four steals. Abongo shot 6-for-8 from the floor and tossed in 15 points before fouling out late in the game.

For Hobart, Richie Bonney scored a game-high 31 points on 11-for-15 shooting from the floor, adding in nine boards. Connor Rehbaum and Joe Gibbons each scored 12 for the Statesmen.
