Saratoga Springs, NY - Perhaps still a little giddy about clinching its first-ever Liberty League regular season championship, the Clarkson University Volleyball team came out flat against Skidmore College in the final conference match of the season, falling to the Thoroughbreds 3-1 (25-18, 25-7, 19-25, 25-21) Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights moved to 25-4 overall and finished the conference slate at 10-2, while Skidmore improved to 21-8 and 9-3 in league games. Clarkson will host the conference tournament two weeks from now and will play Vassar College, the fourth-seed in the Liberty League Tournament. Skidmore, which finished as the second seed, will play third-seeded St. Lawrence University. The semifinal games will be played on Friday, November 4th, with game times yet to be determined.

"Obviously, this was a very disappointing performance on our end," said head coach Johan Dulfer. "The energy and emotion of last night had us come out extremely flat and uninspired. Sometimes that happens, and we have to learn from it and move on. Bottom line is we won the conference championship this weekend and we are going to enjoy playing some really good teams in Texas next weekend to get ready for the Liberty League tournament and hopefully get a shot at redemption for this match in our own gym."

Clarkson made 40 total errors in the match, with 26 attack errors, 12 service errors, and a pair of blocking errors adding up to more than a game and a half worth of points for the Thoroughbreds. Senior Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY) stood out as she struck for 18 kills. Freshman Adrienne Walker (Centennial, CO) added nine kills, but had eight errors, and senior Megan Mahon (Irvine, CA) added seven kills. Sophomore setter Lani Durio (Austin, TX) had 42 assists and a pair of aces and classmate Erika Chin (Katy, TX) produced a team-best 16 digs.
