Once again the Clarkson University Hockey team played well enough to win, but could not come up with the deciding goal and had to settle for a 3-3 tie with visiting Princeton at Cheel Arena on Friday night.

Winless in its last eight games (0-4-4), the 9th/10th-ranked Golden Knights stand at 19-8-6 overall and remain in third place in the ECAC Hockey standings with an 11-5-5 league mark. With one game remaining in the regular season, Clarkson is two points ahead of fourth-place Harvard. The Green and Gold, who host Quinnipiac on Senior Night tomorrow, will be striving for their first win since January 26.

Clarkson outshot Princeton (12-12-4, 9-10-2) 40-27. The Knights, with the top-rated power play in the nation, went 1-of-5 on the man-advantage and killed off five of the Tigers' six opportunities.

Princeton got on the scoreboard first, connecting on its second power play of the night with the Tigers' leading goal scorer Ryan Kuffner stuffing in his own rebound at the side of the net at 9:23.

Clarkson came back at 14:31 when the Knights' leading scorer, sophomore Sheldon Rempal (Calgary, ALB) tallied on the power play. Rempal one-timed a pass from the bottom of the left circle off a pass from senior defenseman Terrance Amorosa (Kirkland, QUE) for his 21st goal of the season. Senior defenseman Kelly Summers (Golden Lake, ONT) started the scoring play by keeping a Princeton clearing attempt in the zone with a nice play at the blueline.

The Knights took a two-goal lead early in the second. Just 41 seconds into the middle frame, sophomore assistant captain Devin Brosseau (St. Lambert, QUE) converted a pass across the slot by Rempal for his eighth goal of the season. Senior captain Nic Pierog (Georgetown, ONT) also set up the goal with hard work behind the net to free the puck to Rempal in the corner.

At 7:24, freshman Josh Dickinson (Georgetown, ONT) converted a pass from linemate Jack Jacome (Caledon, ONT) for his 14th goal of the season. Amorosa also assisted for his second helper of the night.

The Tigers came back with a pair of goals by Eric Robinson to tie the game 3-3 after 40 minutes. Robinson's first goal deflected in off the skate of a Clarkson defenseman at 8:35. He followed with his 13th goal of the year at 15:46.

Clarkson dominated the third period outshooting Princeton 16-3 in the stanza. The Knights' best chance for the go-ahead goal was a on a power-play shot by Rempal that rang off the crossbar midway through the period.

The Knights also held a 5-3 shot advantage in the five-minute overtime session.

Sophomore Jake Kielly (Eden Prairie, MN) made 24 saves for Clarkson, while the Tigers' Ryan Ferland finished with 37 stops.
