Knights senior guard Llanos drops 46 in win over Keuka

Hamburg, NY - The term "feeling it" doesn't even begin to describe the performance Felix Llanos (Queens, NY) delivered for the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team on Saturday against Keuka. The senior guard went off for a school-record 46 points, missing only one of his 11 3-point attempts in a 90-72 victory for the Golden Knights in the consolation game of the Hilbert Tip-Off Tournament.

The Golden Knights moved to 2-1 overall with the victory while Keuka fell to 0-3 on the season. Clarkson returns to action 10 days from now when it hosts crosstown rival Potsdam at Alumni Gymnasium.

Though Clarkson shot nearly 50 percent from the floor in the first half, the Knights couldn't break away from Keuka in the first half, trailing until the 6:12 mark after Llanos made a jumper. Clarkson ran off a 13-0 run in less than two minutes to take a 12-point lead, but the Storm rolled back with a 9-0 run of their own to pull to within three at the half.

Behind the ridiculous shooting of Llanos, Clarkson immediately extended its lead in the second half, and though the advantage shrunk to as few as seven points, the Knights just fed off the hot hand of the senior guard to run away with the game.

Llanos's 46 points broke the school record of 45 set by David Olmsted against Vermont in December 1955 and later tied by Justin Shope in November 1994 versus Johnson State. Llanos also made 10 3-point field goals in 11 attempts, breaking the mark of nine that was set by Tom King against Plattsburgh State in February 1990 and again tied by Shope versus Johnson State.

Scoring more than half of the points, Llanos wouldn't appear to have left many shots for his teammates, but freshman John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) was nearly lost in the shuffle with his 23 points on 11-for-12 shooting. No other Clarkson player had more than five points, though Marques Charlton (Deer Park, NY) dished out eight assists.

For Keuka, Teddy Tuggles scored 24 points and Coty Paige added in 18 points.
