Middlebury, VT - Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) finished in a tie for sixth place among 128 golfers as the Clarkson University Golf team tied for 11th place out of 25 teams at the 31st annual Duke Nelson Invitational held at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

Clarkson dropped 10 strokes off its first-day score to finish with a two-day total of 646, trailing Rensselaer (605), Trinity (608), University of Rochester (615), Middlebury (621), Salem State (626), Williams (630), Skidmore (634), Manhattanville (634), UMass-Dartmouth (635), and Western New England (644), tying with Johnson and Wales (644), and leading Potsdam State (648), Babson (650), Hamilton (651), Nichols (652), Endicott (653), Amherst (656), Castleton State (657), Worcester State (657), St. Michael's (667), Elms (668), Tufts (672), Springfield (689), and Wesleyan (723).

Scores were lower overall on Sunday, but the tournament figures were higher than last year when Clarkson shot below 600 and finished second overall. Cline was one of 10 golfers to shoot 74 or lower on day two, shaving three strokes off Saturday's performance. He placed in a multiple-player tie for sixth place with his two-day total of 151. Junior Scott Henning (Vienna, VA) had the best day-two improvement among the five Clarkson competitors, taking five strokes off his game with a 78 on Sunday, scoring 161 to place 47th. Classmate Evan Cody (Malta, NY) shot 166 (84-82) to come in tied for 75th and Matt Blair (South Glens Falls, NY) shot 84 each day to finish at 168 in a tie for 84th. Junior transfer Jim Greg (Clifton Park, NY) struggled in his first outing outside the North Country, shooting 175 (85-90) over the two-day event.
