Troy, NY – Much like the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team ended Rensselaer's season in 2017 with a header goal in overtime, the Golden Knights' campaign was finished by an overtime header by the Engineers as RPI claimed a 1-0 victory in the 96th minute of Saturday's Liberty League contest.

The Golden Knights ended up 10-6-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the Liberty League while Rensselaer won its fifth straight game to improve to 9-8-1 overall and 6-3-0 in conference games.

The game-winner came on the only shot of overtime as Dan Graybill started things off with a corner kick chance in the 96th minute, finding the head of Trevor Bisson at 95:26 to end the contest. It was Bisson's fourth goal of the year.

The game was nearly absent of quality scoring chances as the two teams combined for just 13 shots overall. Clarkson had the majority of the opportunities in the first half, holding the Engineers without a shot for the first 45 minutes while trying five of its own. Henry Gomez was denied in the 16th minute and Nate Liscum's header was stopped in the 37th minute shortly after a corner kick. Mack Walton nearly put Clarkson on the board in the waning seconds of the first half, but his attempt sailed high.

Rensselaer finally recorded its first shot at 58:04, but Clarkson goalkeeper Riley McDonald was up to the task and stopped the attempt. A few minutes later, sophomore Noah Bell replaced McDonald in net and he was called upon shortly thereafter, making a pair of saves within a 10-second timeframe. Clarkson's best chance in the half came on a header from James Homan with less than 90 seconds to go in the contest.

Clarkson finished with a narrow 7-6 lead in total shots and the two teams were tied with four corner kick chances each. McDonald made one save for Clarkson in 63 minutes, 54 seconds, while Bell stopped three shots in 31:32 of relief. Luke Brezak made three saves for RPI to pick up the shutout.
