Junior Zachary Godin (Philadelphia, N.Y.) scored a goal in the 84th minute to give the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team a 1-0 win over Union College on Saturday afternoon.

Clarkson brings their record to 6-6-1 and 1-2-0 in the Liberty League while Union now stands at 5-5-1 overall with a 1-2-0 record in conference league.

The game would remain scoreless until deep into the second half. Clarkson took a corner kick and both a Clarkson and Union player rose up to meet it. The ball bounced off both players' heads and rolled to Godin who was 20 yards out. He hit a one time shot which sailed past a diving Union keeper and into the net. It was the first goal of both the season and career for Godin.

Union outshot the Golden Knights 20-9 and had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. However, Clarkson sophomore keeper Michael King (Verona, N.J.) and the Clarkson were up to the task as they continually made sure none of those shots found the back of the net. King would finish with eight saves to complete his fifth shutout of the season. The win snapped a 10 game Union winning streak in the series and also snapped a Clarkson three game losing streak.

The Green and Gold will return to action when they host Skidmore College on Hantz Turf Field next Saturday at 2:00 pm.
