Potsdam, NY - A 19-0 run to open the game was more than enough of a cushion for the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team on Tuesdan night, as the Golden Knights defeated Potsdam State for the second time in 10 days with a 79-58 victory in non-league action at Maxcy Hall.

The Golden Knights improved to 3-5 overall with their second straight win and will look to avenge a loss from earlier this season when they play SUNY Canton on Thursday evening. Potsdam fell to 0-5.

Everything went Clarkson's way and against Potsdam in the first 10 minutes of the contest, as the Golden Knights ran out to a 19-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the game. Potsdam struggled on offense, going 0-for-7 from the floor with five turnovers, while Clarkson merely had to be adequate, going 7-for-16 in the same stretch but utilizing a dominant performance on the offensive glass to produce second chances. The Bears finally found the bottom of the basket at the 11:00 mark when a free throw fell through, but didn't get a field goal until Nosa Onabor made a lay up with 9:59 to go. Clarkson wouldn't let the momentum shift, however, and the Knights scored 45 points in the first half, their highest total in any half this season so far. Clarkson held a 25-11 edge on the boards and made all 12 of its free throws in the first half. In the second half, Potsdam came out with a strong defensive effort and was able to cut what was a 24-point deficit at the break down to 14 points within five minutes, but that was as close as the Bears would get.

Junior Conrad Zampier had a steady game in terms of shooting, scoring 10 points in the first half and 11 more in the second half for a game-high of 21 points. Derek Hart recorded a career-high 19 points and also had 11 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and four steals in the game. Felix Abongo was solid all around with 17 points, seven boards, and seven assists. For Potsdam, Joe Estramonte scored 14 points and had five steals, while Dante Langley added in 12 points and seven boards.
