Hartford, CT – Two lengthy scoring droughts, one coming in each half, doomed the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team as the Golden Knights dropped a 69-53 non-league decision to Trinity College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights close out the first semester at 0-9 and will take three weeks off before returning to action. Clarkson will face SUNY Canton on December 30th before returning to Liberty League play in the New Year. Trinity improved to 7-2 with its fourth consecutive win.

Clarkson fell behind by eight points in the first four minutes of the game, but got on the scoreboard and back into the game with back-to-back 3-point field goals from Matthew Hornak and Liam Ellis, making it 8-6 at the 14:34 mark. The 3-pointer from Ellis would be the last points from Clarkson until he made another 3-pointer, but those two makes were separated by nearly eight minutes of play as Trinity rolled off 15 straight points while Clarkson went 0-for-11 from the field. The Knights fell behind by as many as 19 in the first half, but cut the deficit to 14 at the break.

The Bantams held a 26-14 edge on the glass, but committed nine turnovers to Clarkson's five. The two teams combined to shoot just two free throws in the first half.

Chris Hulbert's 3-pointer at the 17:44 mark pulled the Knights back within 10, but Trinity responded with 13 unanswered points over the next four minutes to double up Clarkson 46-23. Although the final score would not indicate as much, the Knights got back into the game and kept things reasonably close with a 12-1 run midway through the second half, and a Malaquias Canery 3-pointer at the 5:43 mark had the Green and Gold down 57-44. However, Trinity once again scored eight unanswered points to return the gap to 21 points and held on for a 16-point victory.

Hulbert finished with a tea-high 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting, while Canery chipped in nine points and Ellis added eight points with three assists. Hornak also produced eight points and five rebounds. For Trinity, Donald Jorden scored 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting with 13 rebounds. Christian Porydzy added 12 points and Kyle Padmore scored 10 points. Nick Seretta also added eight points and eight rebounds.
