A three-goal, third-period rally capped off an exciting opening weekend for the fifth-ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey team as the Golden Knights completed a non-conference series sweep of their archrival with Saturday's 3-2 come-from-behind win at St. Lawrence.

Clarkson at 2-0 jumps right back into action with three games next week, beginning with Tuesday's game at Syracuse University. The Knights then play a home-and-home series with the University of Vermont next weekend.

"Tonight was a great character win for us," said Head Coach Matt Desrosiers. "I thought it was a very fast paced game between two good teams. We put ourselves in a hole after a couple mental lapses to start the first and second periods, but we continued to work hard and battled our way back. There are still a few things we can continue to focus on and improve upon on the ice but a win like that should really act as a confidence booster for us moving forward."

Trailing 2-0 after 40 minutes, Clarkson answered back quickly in the third period against St. Lawrence. Sophomore defenseman Savannah Harmon started the Green and Gold's rally with her second goal of the weekend at 2:57. Junior Cayley Mercer followed with her second goal of the season at 10:56 to tie the game.

Freshman Rhyen McGill will certainly remember her first collegiate goal as she came through with the game-winner with 3:15 remaining in regulation to silence the Saints' fan in Appleton Arena.

St. Lawrence, which was shut out by the Knights 4-0 at Cheel on Friday, wasted little time in getting untrack in the second game of the weekend as Kayla Nielsen scored just 11 seconds after the opening faceoff.

The Saints made it 2-0 just 58 seconds into the second period on a goal by Hannah Miller.

Clarkson outshot the Saints 46-29. Tiley posted 27 saves to record her 26th career win. Both teams went 0-of-4 on the power play.

Clarkson has now won five straight over St. Lawrence and has won 12 of the last 14 meetings.
