Knights men's hockey open with action against McGill Saturday

Excitement is high for the Clarkson University Men's Hockey team as a deep Golden Knight squad is primed to take the next step this season and compete for a top spot in the league standings and vye for a trip to Lake Placid in mid-March for the ECAC Hockey Championship Tournament.

With a solid core of 25 capable veterans plus a mix of young talent Clarkson begins its 94th season of college hockey action in 2015-16. The Green and Gold, led by senior captain Paul Geiger and assistant captains Jeff DiNallo, Pat Megannety and James de Haas, get a jump on the season with an exhibition contest against Canadian college foe McGill University this Saturday at Cheel Arena with a 5:00 p.m. faceoff.

Clarkson's annual "Skate With a Knight" will follow the game against McGill.

The Knights, guided by fifth-year head coach Casey Jones and assistant coaches Phil Roy and Josh Hauge, officially open their 25th season at Cheel Arena next weekend when they host Atlantic Hockey foes RIT and Niagara on October 9-10.

The ECAC Hockey campaign begins for the Green and Gold with three straight games in the North Country. Clarkson hosts Capital District foes Rensselaer and Union On November 6-7 and then travels to Canton to battle archrival St. Lawrence on November 13.
