Gilford, NH - Five of the six top skiers on Saturday came from the Clarkson University Men's Alpine Ski team as the Golden Knights backed up a first-place finish on Friday with another this weekend to claim the title at Gunstock/Blackwater.

The Golden Knights' men finished first among 10 teams at Gunstock on Friday, and then took first among seven teams at Blackwater on Saturday. The women weren't quite as successful, taking seventh out of nine teams at Gunstock, and then fifth out of eight teams at Blackwater.

Senior JP Phaneauf (Montreal, QUE) came in second out of the 61 skiers on Friday, finishing his runs in a combined 1:25.45. Classmate Cedrik Proteau-Dubois (Ste. Adele, QUE) was fourth in 1:26.69, and junior David Simon (Montvale, NJ) placed 13th in 1:30.12. The three times combined to give Clarkson the victory, just .19 seconds ahead of Castleton State. Rounding out the top five skiers for Clarkson, John Bennett (Queensbury, NY) finished in 31st place and Christian Perryman (West Lebanon, NH) did not finish his second run after taking 11th in the first run.

For the women, senior Jill Clevenger (LaGrangeville, NY) led the way for the Knights in 16th place out of 62 skiers with a time of 1:35.57. Freshman Hailey Gilmore (Woodbury, CT) was in the middleof the pack in 28th place with a time of 1:39.07 and Sarah Shafer (Petoskey, MI) finished the top times for Clarkson in 1:42.87 for 30th place. Freshman Mycala Stebbins (Canandaigua, NY) took 40th, and Sophie LeBlanc (Cumberland, ME) and Rachel Barat (New Rochelle, NY) did not finish their runs.

On Saturday, the Knights led a smaller group of skiers with an overwhelming performance. Phaneauf finished the slalom in 1:26.68 for first place, and Proteau-Dubois and Simon finished off the top three with third and fourth place finishes, respectively. Senior Bill O'Connor (Mahopac, NY) came in fifth and Perryman was sixth among the 35 skiers.

The women had 62 skiers at Blackwater once again, and Clarkson was led by LeBlanc in 11th place with a time of 1:39.64. Clevenger came in 19th in 1:43.18 and Shafer rounded out the timing in 22nd place. Also competing for the Knights were Gilmore (34th), Stebbins (48th) and Barat (DNF).
