Potsdam, NY - Three first-half goals proved too much to overcome for the Clarkson Men's Soccer team, as they fell to the Geneseo State Blue Knights 3-0 on Friday afternoon in Potsdam.

The Golden Knights host the University of Rochester tomorrow at 2 pm at Hantz Turf Field, while Geneseo State heads to St. Lawrence tomorrow afternoon.

The Blue Knights struck early in the first half when Stanley Egbuchulam gathered a loose ball in traffic, dribbled around the Clarkson defense to the right, and fired a shot by Golden Knight goalkeeper Alex White (Unadilla, NY).

The scoring continued in the 37th minute as Rich Bellusci took a pass from Jaisen Clark from midfield, dribbled down the left side, beating a defender in the process. Bellusci finished the play by shooting to the far right side of the goal and giving the Blue Knights a 2-0 lead.

Two minutes later Bellusci put the game out of reach on a very similar play, this time taking a pass from Neil Allen down the left side, and again beating White on the right side of the goal to put Geneseo State in command 3-0.

The Green and Gold only managed five shots on the afternoon, forcing Blue Knight goalkeeper Dan Maddock to stop three. Geneseo State fired 12 shots, and White stopped two of them for the Golden Knights. Clarkson's best scoring chance came late in the first half as Alex Lewis (Hollywood, FL) fired a shot on goal that Maddock only saved with a diving effort.
