Waltham, MA – A recent streak of dominance by the Clarkson University Volleyball team came to an end Friday night, as the Golden Knights lost to Tufts University in four sets, 25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, at the Judges Classic held at Brandeis.
The Golden Knights fell to 23-7 overall on the season, and have two more tough matches on Saturday afternoon when they face UMass-Boston and Brandeis.
While the first set of the match was lopsided, the final three sets showed the evenness of the two squads as they were decided by a combined nine points. Junior Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY) led the team in kills with 19 on 39 swings with just four errors, and sophomore Courtney Haines (Crestview, FL) added 11 kills with four errors in only 23 swings. Freshman Lani Durio (Austin, TX) had 46 assists, topping 40 sets for the seventh time this season. Freshman Holly McDaniel (Hacienda Heights, CA) had 12 digs, while classmate Erika Chin (Katy, TX) and senior Alison Schroeder (Webster, NY) also added 10 digs each.
