Poughkeepsie, NY - An unseasonal snow storm made for some slushy conditions at the Liberty League Championships, but the Clarkson University Cross Country team trekked through the weather conditions along with the other seven squads on a cold day in southern New York.
The women's team finished with a score of 179, coming in seventh among the eight teams. St. Lawrence won the event with 23 points, followed by Vassar (61), Rensselaer (95), RIT (96), William Smith (142), Union (168), Clarkson, and Bard College (218).
The men's race was concluded in the less than desireable conditions, but results were not available because the scoring system was knocked out by the moisture and weather. They should become available some time on Sunday.
Senior Audrey Keene (Hilton, NY) led the way for the Knights, finishing the 6,000-meter race in 24 minutes, 57 seconds, coming in 36th place. Classmate Maureen Hill (Latham, NY) was next in 37th, and freshman Sarah Governale (Wading River, NY) came in 50th. Closing out the scoring for Clarkson were junior Rachel Bachman (Queensbury, NY) in 56th place and sophomore Erin Corrigan (Remsen, NY) took 64th. Junior Jessica Hernandez (Owego, NY) and Susan Lopez (Westill, NY) finished in 66th and 68th place, respectively.
