For the second straight year, junior Erika Chin (Katy, TX) of the Clarkson University Volleyball team was named a Capital One/CoSIDA District 3 Academic All-American, becoming only the second player in the program's history to win the award in back-to-back years.
Chin, who sports a 3.854 cumulative grade-point average with a double major in chemical engineering and engineering and management, is only the fourth player (six occasions) to gain the honor for the volleyball program.
With 667 digs this year, Chin is the Liberty League leader in that category and ranks third in digs per set (4.98) in the conference. She also is fifth in the Liberty League in aces per set (0.44), though her total of 59 ranks third. The Golden Knights' third-year libero is already third on Clarkson's all-time list in digs (1614) and is second in aces (188). More importantly, Clarkson is headed to the NCAA National Championships as one of only eight remaining teams in the country. The Golden Knights will look to reach the national semifinals when they face the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota) at 12:30 pm on Thursday.
