Johnson, VT - One day after recording the first win program history the Clarkson University Softball team scratched another first off the list and actually did it three times in game two against Johnson State, smacking three home runs in a 7-1 game two victory after falling 6-1 in the opener against the Badgers.

The Golden Knights moved to 2-20 overall and return home for a doubleheader against St. Lawrence at Scott Field on Saturday afternoon. Johnson State saw its record altered to 6-13 on the season.

In the opener Clarkson squeaked a run across in the first thanks to an RBI-single by Tirzah Smith (Tully, NY) which scored Lou Terwilliger (Putney, VT) who had reached earlier on a walk. Sarah Voorhis doubled a run home in the bottom half of the first to tie the game at 1-1, but the Badgers tacked on four runs in the third inning on another run-scoring hit by Voorhis and a two-run homer to center by pitcher Alex Macey. Clarkson's offense could not make up the difference after that outburst and finished with six hits in the contest. Freshman Ali Schwenzfeier (East Haddam, CT) went 2-for-3 with a double and Jamie Bridge (Plymouth, CT) was 1-for-4 with a double. For the Badgers Voorhis was 2-for-3 with two runs driven in and Macey pitched to contact, striking out only two but also walking only one and allowing six hits in seven innings.

In game two, the Knights took little time to jump out ahead as Jamie Bridge led the game off with a home run. Two innings later, MacKenzie Pelton (Glens Falls, NY) singled to start the third and Bridge again homererd to make the score 3-0. Schwenzfeier then delivered a two-out single to score Katie Pelton (Auburn, NY) for a 4-0 advantage. Clarkson then broke the game open in the top of the fourth with its third home run of the game as Lou Terwilliger bashed a homer with two runners on and two outs to give Clarkson a 7-0 advantage. Though Anna Bingham would respond with a solo home run in the bottom half of the sixth inning, the Knights would hold on to record their second victory of the season.

Bridge finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three more driven in and Terwilliger was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in. MacKenzie Pelton also finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Katie Pelton earned her first collegiate victory by allowing only six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five and walking none in the process.
