Freshman Ashley Loggins (Albany, NY) of the Clarkson University Women’s Basketball team secured numerous honors on Tuesday, none higher than when she was picked as the Liberty League Rookie of the Year.
Loggins, who shared the honor of top newcomer with Tytravia Riley of Bard College, was also picked as a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star and was a unanimous choice for the Liberty League All-Rookie team.
Loggins averaged 17.4 points per game (third in the Liberty League), shattering the single-season freshman record at Clarkson by more than 100 total points. She was also second in the conference in rebounding (10.3 rpg), 13th in field goal percentage (40.9%), 14th in free throw percentage (65.0%), 12th in steals (1.8 spg) and second in both offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds in the league. Her 99 offensive rebounds also set a single-season record for players at Clarkson.
The freshman forward was even better in 16 conference games, averaging 18.2 ppg and 10.4 rebounds per game. She became the first Clarkson player to win Rookie of the Year honors since Sierra Noles (2007-08).
