Winter Haven, FL - Senior John Coleman had seven hits and classmate Nolan Driscoll added six more as the Clarkson University Baseball team delivered its second straight sweep of Vassar College on Thursday to improve to 4-0 in Liberty Leauge play with wins of 6-5 and 10-4 at Chain O' Lakes Stadium.

The Golden Knights moved to 9-1 overall, the team's best 10-game spring start since the team went 19-0 in 1943, and 4-0 in the Liberty League while the Brewers dropped to 1-5 and 0-4 in league games.

In the first game, Vassar scored one in the first but the Knights came back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning. John Coleman led things off with a triple and Paul Ludden then hit a sacrifice fly to score the senior shortstop. However, the Brewers' Cory Wuenschell delivered a two-out single to drive home two in the top of the third. The score remained 3-1 until the sixth inning when Vassar plated two more with two outs. Kyle Casey had a double to plate one run and Denis Shanagher added a run-scoring single to make it 5-1.

Clarkson would not let the game get away though and had a strong start to the bottom of the sixth inning. Tim Beninati walked and Matt Jenack followed with another walk. John Coleman then singled to load the bases and Paul Ludden sent Beninati home with a sacrifice fly to make the score 5-2. Chris Miller reloaded the bases with a walk and Greg Jasek cleared them with a double to tie the score up at 5-5. Two batters later after a walk and a fly out, Pirro singled to get Jasek home and give Clarkson its first lead of the game. The Knights would retire Vassar's bats in the top of the seventh to take the opener.

Coleman went 4-for-4 and scored twice and Dom Pirro went 2-for-4. Ian Castle gained the win with six solid innings and Ted Wilson picked up his second save of the season.

In game two, Dakota Sagnelli hit a single up the middle to send home the first run, but that was the end of the offense for Vassar for a few innings as Clarkson ran away with the game early. The Knights scored five in the bottom of the second when Will Coleman reached on an error and Nolan Driscoll singled to set up two runners for Dom Pirro. Pirro hit a bomb to left field to make the score 3-1 and clearing the bases. Just an out later, the Knights reloaded the bases with three straight singles and Chris Miller sent two runners home with a double to give Clarkson a 5-1 edge.

In the bottom of the third, Clarkson tallied three more as Pirro delivered an RBI double, Jenack drove in a run with a sac fly, and another run came around on an error. Vassar scored one in the fifth, but Driscoll doubled in Jasek in the sixth and Ludden singled home Jenack in the seventh to give Clarkson a 10-2 lead. Vassar scored two in the eighth, but Clarkson got the last three outs in the ninth to pick up another doubleheader sweep.

Nolan Driscoll was 5-for-5 in game two while John Coleman and Paul Ludden went 3-for-5. Pirro also was 2-for-5 with two runs scored in and four more driven in and Jenack went 2-for-2 with two runs. Joe Rooney picked up the win for Clarkson while Jamie Terry and Andrew Smith combined to pitch four fine innings of relief.
