The season for the Clarkson University Volleyball team may have come to a conclusion on Saturday against Cortland in the NCAA New York Regional Semifinals, but the Golden Knights continue to pick up honors during the awards season as senior Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY) and sophomore Lani Durio (Austin, TX) each gained American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American notice on Tuesday.

Artus, now a three-time All-American, picked AVCA Third-Team All-American honors in her final collegiate season. The Liberty League Player of the Year, Artus recorded 496 kills through 38 matches (3.70 per set) with a .240 hitting percentage. She finished her career as the school's all-time leader in kills (1,710) and the three highest single-season figures for kills (560 in 2010, 506 in 2009, and 496 in 2011). She also was among the team's leaders in digs (280), blocks (50), aces (32) and assists (32). Artus was one of only two AVCA New York Region First-Team members to gain recognition on any of the first three All-American teams.

Durio, who gained AVCA New York Region Honorable Mention honors as a freshman, was picked to the First-Team as a sophomore and gained AVCA All-American Honorable Mention honors this year. Durio was the only setter from the New York Region to gain All-American honors and ranked first in the Liberty League this season in assists per set (10.31 per set), totaling 1,381 in 2011, a new single-season best at Clarkson. She also ranked second in the conference in aces with 70 (0.52 per set) and added a .256 hitting percentage on 90 kills to go along with 208 digs and 22 blocks. Her 2,597 assists already ranks third all-time at Clarkson and she is on track to challenge the career mark as early as next season.
