For the fifth time in the last seven seasons, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team and the University of Rochester went to double overtime, and for the fourth time among those five games the two squads finished in a scoreless 0-0 tie.
The Golden Knights moved to 2-1-1 on the season with the tie, while Rochester also moved to 2-1-1. Clarkson will travel to play SUNYIT on Wednesday.
The two teams were fairly even in the first half, but it was the final 65 minutes of the game where the Clarkson defense really stepped up to deny the Yellowjackets. Rochester had nine shots in the second half and 10 more 20 minutes worth of overtime, but all attempts were stopped by the Knights. The Yellowjackets also had nine of their 11 corner kicks in the final 65 minutes.
Sophomore goalkeeper Michael King (Verona, NJ) made nine saves in 110 minutes for Clarkson, while Michael Shatkin made two stops for Rochester. The Yellowjackets had a 24-2 edge in shots and an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
