Seniors Brendan McNamee, Charlton Kelly and Ryan Crouse all scored one goal and sophomore goalkeeper Ben Kelty made five stops as the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team topped SUNY Canton 3-0 in non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field.

With the win, the Saints improved to 7-2-2 on the season, while the Roos fell to 6-6-2.

McNamee put the Saints on the board with a rebound touch off a penalty kick in the fourth minute of play, giving the Scarlet and Brown a 1-0 lead.

In the 15th minute, Callahan crossed the ball into the 18 for Kelly, who was able to one touch the pass by Roos' goalkeeper Mouhammed Thiam for the 2-0 advantage.

With seconds remaining in the first half, McDonough chipped the ball up the right side line to Crouse, who beat the defenders and Thiam just enough to tip the ball for the goal and the 3-0 lead.

SUNY Canton looked to rally, forcing Kelty to make four saves in just over ten minutes of play during the second half, but the Roos' came up short.

"It was a full complete effort from the team today, as everyone played and contributed," said head coach Mike Toshack. "The first team only played 20 minutes, which allowed all of our young players to go in and show their quality and take care of the 70 minutes that were left. We're very pleased with many performances from our young players today and we look forward to a tough weekend of Liberty League play."

The Scarlet and Brown held a 19-7 shot advantage, including an 8-5 margin in shots on goal.

The Saints were able to get almost every member of the team off the bench and on the field in today's win.

Kelty improved his record to 2-0-1, earning his second shutout of the season and career, while Thiam finished with five saves for SUNY Canton.

St. Lawrence will return to Liberty League play this weekend hosting Bard and Vassar on October 12 and 13, respectively.
