Megan Kellogg won the 3,000-meter run by nearly six seconds to lead the St. Lawrence University women's track and field team at the Marc Deneault Invitational at Cornell University on Saturday afternoon.
Kellogg won the race in nine minutes, 54.69 seconds, 5.98 seconds ahead of Cornell's Jessica Elliott. The time is a season-best for the junior from Queensbury, N.Y., and is the 13th-fastest among NCAA Division III athletes this season.
Cassidy Scott was second in the 1,000 for the Saints, finishing just 0.24 seconds behind Anne Charles of Cornell. Scott, who trailed Charles by 1.66 seconds at the bell lap, finished in 3:02.33, which is the third-fastest time in the NYSCTC this season.
Ann Greene finished tied for second in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters, and Caroline Driscoll dropped her PR in the mile by nearly seven seconds, finishing sixth in 5:10.02. She was the fastest NCAA Division III student-athlete in the race, and the time is the sixth-fastest time in the NYSCTC this season.
Molly Lennon dropped her PR in the 400 by 0.15 seconds, finishing fifth in 59.57, which ranks third in the NYSCTC. Holly Riccitellli also posted a PR, finishing seventh in the 500 in 1:25.08, and Miabelle Salzano was sixth in the 5,000 in 19:38.22
Leah Conners posted a person best in the weight throw with a toss of 13.75 meters to finish eighth. Meghann Wood (shot put) and Morgan Rosser (triple jump) also made the finals in their events and finished eighth.
No team scores were kept at the event.
The Saints will return home to host the NYSCTC Championships on Feb. 24-25 at Newell Field House.
